"The main revenue source for LGS are air navigation charges collected for the rendered service and there is no financing from the State budget. Moreover, LGS is one of the largest tax payers in Latvia.... LGS was founded on October 21, 1991 as an Air Navigation Services Enterprise with 100% state ownership on the basis of the disintegrated Aeroflot structure. On June 12, 1997 the enterprise changed its legal status and became a State Joint Stock Company keeping the same title. On October 11, 2004 in line with the Latvian legislation LGS was entered in the Commercial Register as State Joint Stock Company of Air Space Utilisation and Air Traffic Organisation Latvijas gaisa satiksme but since February 17, 2006 the name has been changed to State Joint Stock Company Latvijas gaisa satiksme."
